Summary Description: This position is responsible for overseeing the tennis sales staff while managing department inventory control. This position plays a crucial role in maximizing profitability and ensuring best-in-class guest service.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Generate sales and maintain high standards for guest service across all product lines.
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of tennis products, staying abreast of industry trends.
  • Maintain merchandising of tennis product lines, ensuring store cleanliness standards are met.
  • Assist in monitoring and controlling the payroll budget.
  • Contribute to hiring, training, coaching, leading, and maintaining a high-quality sales staff
  • Assist in administering company policies and procedures, including cash handling, safety, and loss prevention.
  • Prepare, distribute, and maintain company-required documentation.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Demonstrate the desire to succeed and grow within the company.
  • Open and close the store as required.
  • Greet all customers in the store, building rapport through conversation to understand their needs.
  • Build trust with customers through comprehensive product knowledge and accurate information delivery.
  • Bring the sale to a successful close and expand it by demonstrating knowledge of accessories and/or related products.
  • Operate the cash register to complete sales transactions.
  • Merchandise the store by stocking shelves, counters, or tables with products.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A thorough understanding of tennis including equipment, fundamentals and trends
  • Retail customer service and footwear knowledge preferred
  • Friendly, outgoing and comfortable working with people
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in accurate spoken and written English
  • Must be able to stand and move for extended periods
  • Must be able to routinely lift merchandise, packages and other items of at least 50 pounds and climb ladders on an occasional basis
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet store needs, including holidays, nights and weekends
  • Experience with POS systems preferred

Wage ranges between $19-$23/hour. + Commission ($1 - $5/hour in addition to base pay). Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

The employee is frequently required to walk.
